India’s Mining and Construction Equipment (MCE) industry is on the cusp of a major transformation, driven by large-scale infrastructure development, a renewed thrust on domestic manufacturing, and a global shift towards sustainability, digitalisation, and resource security. As the country progresses towards becoming a USD 5 trillion economy, the MCE sector is emerging as a key enabler of productivity, efficiency, and global competitiveness.
Valued at over USD 18 billion and growing at a strong pace, the industry plays a critical role across mining, construction, power, transportation, logistics, and industrial development. Beyond its direct economic contribution, the sector is central to infrastructure creation, employment generation, technology adoption, and strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
At the same time, the sector is undergoing a significant transformation. Rapid technological advancements, increasing focus on sustainability and safety, and the need for resilient and self-reliant supply chains are redefining the MCE landscape. Digitalisation, automation, remote operations, and autonomous technologies are reshaping equipment design and deployment, while low-emission, energy-efficient, hybrid, and smart machinery are gaining prominence in line with climate commitments and evolving regulatory frameworks.
Additionally, the rising strategic importance of critical minerals and rare earth elements has further expanded the sector’s relevance, given their central role in electric mobility, renewable energy, defence manufacturing, and advanced electronics. Evolving policy frameworks, investment priorities, and global market dynamics are also influencing the future trajectory of the MCE ecosystem.
In this context, there is a strong need for a collaborative platform to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, OEMs, component manufacturers, mining and construction companies, financial institutions, technology providers, researchers, startups, and other stakeholders to deliberate on the sector’s future and chart a roadmap for its next phase of growth.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), through its National Mining and Construction Equipment Division, is organising the National Mining and Construction Equipment Summit 2026 on 14 July 2026 in New Delhi.
The Summit is envisioned as a national platform to facilitate dialogue, enable collaboration, and align industry and policy perspectives to support the growth and global competitiveness of the MCE sector. It will focus on key themes including technology adoption, sustainability, manufacturing competitiveness, supply chain resilience, and the strategic role of critical minerals.
Promote dialogue on the future trajectory of India’s Mining & Construction Equipment (MCE) industry
Deliberate on the policy, investment, technology, and capability enablers required to unlock the sector’s next phase of growth
Position India as a global manufacturing hub by promoting domestic production and enhancing competitiveness
Strengthen the end-to-end value chain—from exploration and extraction to design, manufacturing, servicing, and recycling
Accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies, including digitalisation, automation, and low-emission solutions
Examine the strategic role of critical minerals in building resilient supply chains and reducing external dependencies
Align industry efforts with India’s broader infrastructure expansion, industrial development, and energy transition agenda
The Summit is expected to generate:
A shared industry roadmap for the MCE sector
Actionable policy recommendations to support manufacturing and technology adoption
Strengthened collaboration between government, industry, financial institutions, and research organisations
New opportunities for investment, partnerships, and innovation across the ecosystem
The deliberations will also reinforce India’s positioning as a global hub for innovative, resilient, and environmentally responsible mining and construction equipment manufacturing.
In essence, the National Mining and Construction Equipment Summit 2026 will serve as a strategic platform to align technology, policy, trade, finance, sustainability, and skills around a common vision for the sector—while highlighting the MCE industry’s critical role as an enabler of infrastructure growth, industrial development, and India’s journey towards self-reliance and global competitiveness.
